Investment Tooling

Investment tooling is a critical key element of what makes investment castings the unique foundry process that it is. Injection dies are used in high-pressure molten wax presses that produce dimensionally accurate and complex, high-grade solid wax patterns. These form the basis for the next step of ceramic mould building and so must be designed for ease of use, maximum efficiency, and durability.

The tooling is designed in-house by experienced toolmakers who have made the transition from toolmaker to tool designer and it is their vast knowledge and experience that ensures our tools stand out from our competitors.

All investment tooling produced at RP is manufactured from high-grade aluminium sliders and collapsible cores that are made from either a different grade of aluminium to the main tool or from brass or steel.

Before delivery to the foundry, the cavities are inspected and injected with our in-house wax facility and CMM inspection. It is this attention to detail that enables us to supply tooling to a global customer base. 

ALUMINIUM PLASTIC INJECTION TOOLING

RP Tooling design and manufacture precision aluminium plastic injection mould tooling to short lead times and have an enviable reputation for quality.

Sophisticated CAD/CAM and direct machining capabilities allow for fast turnaround and complex shapes or contours are commonplace with full flow high speed 5 axis CNC machining and programming all catered for.

Full control over the entire process is achieved on site from tool design to moulded component, fully inspected to achieve tight tolerances where required using Axel CMM software. 

COMPOSITE TOOLING

With specialist knowledge and expertise in composites, RP Tooling are constantly involved in the design and manufacture of all types of composite tooling, jigs and fixtures. From carbon fibre, epoxy and PU to aluminium composites for larger more complex tooling.

AEROSPACE TOOLING

Aerospace tooling requires exacting levels of expertise to properly analyse the requirement and provide the right solution even when tight deadlines are part of the equation.

RP Tooling are specialists in the design and manufacture of aerospace tooling and provide the capacity to support a great number of projects, from large tools and machined parts to the smallest parts requiring the most precise tolerances.

LOW VOLUME MACHINED CASTINGS

RP Tooling provide a responsive and technically advanced quality service on a wide range of high specification engineered mouldings.

Typical parts supplied are automotive interior and exterior trim, under bonnet components and cowlings.

With toolmaking and moulding facilities on the same shop floor, RP Tooling is perfectly placed to offer optimal control and workflow.

From component design and manufacture to colour matching, in-mould decoration, assembly, inspection and packaging, RP Tooling provide guaranteed accuracy and quality whatever the complexity of the component. 

JIGS & FIXTURES

RP Tooling provide a large number of jigs and fixtures to a diverse range of industries such as aerospace, medical and automotive.

In-house design facilities provide an enviable ability to design complex jigs and fixtures to exacting customer requirements and deadlines.

Many of our jigs and fixtures incorporate "poke-yoke philosophies" to fool-proof parts production, and have been manufactured to handle automotive castings, bumpers, interior trim and grills, aerospace castings and structures etc.

SHELL MOULD PATTERN EQUIPMENT

Shell mould pattern equipment is made to exacting standards at RP. We use modern design facilities and machines to produce a full range of pattern equipment from core boxes to pattern plates. Due to our manufacturing techniques we are able to produce quality tooling quickly which helps our customers reduce their lead times and improve overall delivery.

The tooling is designed in-house by experienced toolmakers who have made the transition from toolmaker to tool designer and it is their vast knowledge and experience that ensures our tools stand out from our competitors.

All patterns produced at RP are manufactured from high-grade cast iron or composites for prototype equipment.

Before delivery to the foundry, the cavities are inspected with our in-house CMM facility.
